Leonardo DiCaprio Shows an Interest in "Blood Diamond"

June 29, 2005 - Leonardo DiCaprio may follow up the Martin Scorsese film, "The Departed," with the dramatic movie, "Blood Diamond," for Warner Bros. Pictures.

"The Last Samurai" director Ed Zwick will helm the project. Zwick also co-wrote the script with Marshall Herskovitz. According to Variety, the film follows a diamond smuggler who deals in 'blood diamonds,' the gems that are used "to finance rebellions, privateers and terrorists."

Filming on "Blood Diamond" is expected to begin in early 2006.
