Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" takes on religion and politics among other subjects and is considered by some to be Vonnegut's best work (I prefer "Slaughterhouse-Five"). Father and son team James Hart and Jake will write the script. There's no word yet on when the film will begin production or any casting news.
This isn't the first time Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way production company have been linked to a movie version of "Cat's Cradle." Back in late 2003 I spoke to writer/director Richard Kelly ("Donnie Darko") and at that time he indicated he was ready to work on a script for "Cat's Cradle" for DiCaprio, but that the project was "in limbo."
Leonardo DiCaprio will next be seen in "The Departed" which reunites him with director Martin Scorsese ("Gangs of New York," "The Aviator").
