June 28, 2007 - Academy Award winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator) and multi Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio (What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Blood Diamond) have signed on to star in the dramatic movie, Body of Lies, based on the David Ignatius novel and adapted for the screen by Oscar-winner William Monahan.
Ridley Scott will direct the film which is scheduled to begin shooting later this year. Body of Lies marks the reunion of Scott and his Kingdom of Heaven screenwriter Monahan. Monahan also has a connection to DiCaprio having worked with the actor on Martin Scorsese's The Departed. Body of Lies will also be the fourth teaming of director Scott and Russell Crowe. The two worked together on Gladiator and A Good Year, and recently completed filming on American Gangster.
Body of Lies is a spy thriller set in the Middle East. The story follows a CIA operative (DiCaprio) stationed in Amman who is pursuing a high-ranking terrorist. Crowe will play DiCaprio's boss.
