Leonardo DiCaprio has committed to starring in Atari, a biopic based on the life of Nolan Bushnell. Bushnell created Atari and is considered to be one of the founding fathers of video games.

Paramount Pictures snapped up a pitch by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman, with DiCaprio in line to star in the film as well as serve as a producer. There's no word yet on when production will start.

A graduate of the University of Utah, Nolan Bushnell revolutionized the video game industry by developing a technology used in all games up until the mid-70s. In 1972 Bushnell founded the Atari company, creating Pong and a series of games before selling the company to Warner Bros for $28 million.

DiCaprio will next be seen in the much-anticipated dramas Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet and House of Lies with Russell Crowe.
