Role That Got Him Noticed:

Nabbing the role of Tommy Hanson in 21 Jump Street in 1987 put him on the map. His first major feature film role was in Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the film that launched the Freddy Krueger franchise.

Depp played in the rock band "Kids" before getting into acting.

He's Known For...:

Playing dark characters and for working with Tim Burton and Gore Verbinski multiple times.
