The legendary on-air fights between Sen. Joseph McCarthy and newsman Edward R. Murrow are the subject of an upcoming movie starring and produced by George Clooney.Clooney will be joined by Patricia Clarkson and David Strathairn, with production expected to begin in late February 2005. George Clooney and producer Grant Heslov co-wrote the script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Goodnight, and Good Luck" follows the true story of how Murrow and producer Fred Friendly helped bring an end to the blacklist and the House Un-American Activities Committee's hearings on communist activities.
