Putting in Personal Appearances: Kevin Smiths logged more than his fair share of time traveling around to comic book conventions, colleges, and other gatherings to discuss his films and filmmaking in general. Why does he still do it? Smith told me, I dont know. Why does anybody do these things? Youve got JJ Abrams sitting at the other table. JJ Abrams is an insanely powerful and very popular director and creator and whatnot. You know, its just fun. I like getting up there. Obviously I like talking. I like to hear the sound of my own f**king voice.
For me its no problem to get up there. I do like Q&As all the time at colleges across the country and concert halls and s**t like that. Those are long. Those last anywhere from 4 hours to 8 hours. The longest one I ever did was 8 hours. Once youre up there and people are asking you questions, time just flies by so doing an hour and a half at a comic book convention especially one that you like is no skin off my a**. I get to leave town for a few days, go hang out in the beautiful Bay area. The only drawback is that I dont get to go see the floor anymore. I dont get to walk around and s**t like that. If I was smart I would bring a f**king costume. I would walk around like a f**king storm trooper and maybe go shopping, but I always forget to do it or they dont have storm trooper costumes that fit me. Thats the only drawback. Otherwise, its all good.
