The Bottom Line

Cars has a little something for everyone. Older adults will feel nostalgic over the lost art of family road trips while kids will enjoy the goofy automobile characters. And all age groups will appreciate the gorgeous animation.

Guide Review - "Cars" DVD Review

Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, and Larry the Cable Guy lend their voices to the animated family film, Cars, directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Joe Ranft.

Cars follows a rookie race car named Lightning McQueen (Wilson) who's the latest hot thing on the track. Lightning's on the fast-track to superstardom and headed toward the biggest race of his young career when suddenly he finds himself in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by autos who live life at a much slower pace.

After a little run-in with the law, Lightning's forced to spend time fixing up the section of the legendary Route 66 that runs smack-dab through the middle of Radiator Springs. While working off his debt to the town, Lightning begins to understand why all of the citizens of Radiator Springs love their little town. Lightning even finds time for a little romance with the resident cutie, a pretty little Porsche named Sally (Bonnie Hunt).
