Elisabeth Shue Takes on "The Number 23"

Nov 8, 2005 - Hot off starring roles in "Dreamer" and "Hide and Seek," Elisabeth Shue has signed on to her next project. Shue will join Jim Carrey ("Bruce Almighty") in "The Number 23," written by Fernley Phillips and to be directed by Joel Schumacher ("The Phantom of the Opera").

Carrey will play a man who becomes obsessed with the number 23 after reading a book called "The Number 23." Shue will co-star in the film as his wife and a character from the book.

Back in April 2004 while promoting his role in "13 Going on 30," "Lord of the Rings"/"King Kong" star Andy Serkis described "The Number 23" as "a really fresh, wonderful piece of writing about the number 23 enigma, which I won’t go into. But it’s really fresh, original piece." At that time, Serkis said he had signed on to the project but couldn't really say much about the script.

Jim Carrey will next be seen in the action comedy, "Fun with Dick and Jane" which he stars in and produced. Shue recently wrapped work on the thriller, "First Born," for writer/director Isaac Webb.
