MTV Selects Jim Carrey as the Winner of Their MTV Generation Award

Carrey to be Honored at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards

Jim Carrey's pretty much done it all at this point in his career including stand-up comedy, TV shows, film comedies, and dramatic movies. To recognize Carrey's success, the 2006 MTV Movie Awards have selected Carrey to receive their coveted MTV Generation Award at the ceremony hosted by hottie Jessica Alba.

Also being honored at MTV's big movie event will be filmmaker Spike Lee. Lee's set to pick up the Silver Bucket of Excellence Award for his film Do the Right Thing. The Silver Bucket honors films that, according to MTV, "have made a lasting effect on moviegoers and the MTV audience.

The MTV Movie Awards distinguish themselves from the pack by awarding trophies in unique categories rather than Best Actor, Best Actress, etc. Presenters at the event, including Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves, Eva Mendes, Zach Braff, Rosario Dawson, Anna Faris, Colin Farrell, Matt Dillon, Amanda Bynes, Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Samuel L Jackson, Justin Timblerlake, Owen Wilson, Jessica Simpson, T.I., Kate Hudson, Ludacris, Rebecca Romijn, Kate Bosworth, Famke Janssen, John C Reilly, Brandon Routh, Dane Cook, and Kate Beckinsale, will be passing out golden popcorn tubs for the Best Hero, Best Villain, Best Frightened Performance, Best Kiss, Sexiest Performance, and Best Fight.

The MTV Movie Awards will air on June 8, 2006 at 9pm ET/PT on MTV.
