Jim Carrey has signed on to play a bunch of different roles in a new Walt Disney Pictures movie based on Charles Dickens' classic holiday story, A Christmas Carol. Carrey will not only be playing Ebenezer Scrooge, he'll also be portraying all three ghosts that visit the miserly old man on Christmas Eve.
This version of A Christmas Carol was adapted by Robert Zemeckis who'll also be directing the film. Zemeckis is becoming a master of the performance capture technology and A Christmas Carol will be shot using that innovative method.
According to Variety, Zemeckis wrote the screenplay with Carrey in mind and the actor jumped at the opportunity to be involved. Zemeckis and his ImageMovers Digital cohorts Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey will be producing the film.
Next up for Zemeckis is Beowulf, a performance capture take on the ancient story. Carrey has several high-profile projects in the works including Ripley's Believe It Or Not! and Sober Buddies.
