Production Begins on 28 Weeks Later

Rose Byrne, Robert Carlyle, and Harold Perrineau Star in 28 Weeks Later

Aug 30, 2006 - DNA Films and Fox Atomic announced principal photography is underway on 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to the 2003 film, 28 Days Later. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will direct the film with 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle involved as an executive producer.

The cast of 28 Weeks Later includes Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Catherine McCormack, Imogen Poots and Idris Elba. 12-year-old newcomer Mackintosh Muggleton will be making his feature film debut in 28 Weeks Later.

In a statement issued by Fox Atomic director Fresnadillo said, "I am thrilled to be working on my first English language film alongside such an exciting international cast and talented production team. London provides me with all the elements to make an extreme horror film."

28 Weeks Later was written by Fresnadillo, Lopez-Lavigne, Rowan Joffe and Jesus Olmo. The behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Enrique Chediak, production designer Mark Tildesley, costume designer Jane Petrie, make up designer Konnie Daniel, and editor Masahiro Hirakubo.

28 Weeks Later - The Official Synopsis

Six months after the rage virus has annihilated the British Isles, the US Army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin. In the first wave of returning refugees, a family is reunited -- but one of them unwittingly carries a terrible secret. The virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever.
