Feb 4, 2008 - Variety is reporting Gerard Butler (PS I Love You) will be joining Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy) in The Ugly Truth for Lakeshore Entertainment and Sony Pictures. Romantic comedy veteran Robert Luketic (Monster-in-Law, Legally Blonde) will helm the film which is scheduled to begin shooting in April.
Heigl will play a morning show producer who butts heads with a TV host (Butler) who thinks he's an expert on relationships. Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith (the Legally Blonde screenwriting team) wrote the most recent version of the screenplay. Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing the film.
Heigl was recently seen in the box office hit 27 Dresses playing a woman unable to say no to bridesmaid duty. Butler recently completed work on Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla and the family-friendly film Nim's Island. He's currently busy with the action thriller Game.
