Gerard Butler Signs Up for Game Movie

May 17, 2007 - Hot off his starring turn as the oh-so-muscular leader of the Spartans in 300, Gerard Butler has taken the lead role in Game, an action film from Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.

Neveldine and Taylor are no strangers to the action genre having written and directed the high-octane thriller Crank which starred Jason Statham. Butler's proven he can handle the physical aspects of action movies and earned high marks for his physical prowess as King Leonidas in 300.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Game takes place in a world in which mind-control technology is one of society's most popular forms of entertainment. The technology is utilized in Slayers, an online game in which people remote control other people. Butler will star as Kable, the number one ranked warrior in the game. Kable's big challenge is to regain his identity and free himself from the system.

Butler will next be seen in the romantic movie PS, I Love You opposite Hilary Swank and in the thriller Butterfly on a Wheel with Pierce Brosnan and Maria Bello.
