The Hollywood Reporter reports Ed Burns ("Sidewalks of New York") will write, direct, produce and star in the movie, "The Groomsmen," an ensemble piece set in New York.

Burns stars as a bridegroom who discovers as his wedding day approaches that it's time to put adolescence behind him and start life as a grown-up. The story centers on Burns and his buddies during the week leading up to the nuptials.

Brittany Murphy, John Leguizamo, Jay Mohr, Heather Burns, Matthew Lillard and Donal Logue will co-star in the indie film, which will begin shooting soon in New York.

Brittany Murphy was most recently seen in the Robert Rodriguez/Frank Miller film, "Sin City" and is currently doing voice work on the animated penguin film, "Happy Feet."

John Leguizamo has George Romero's "Land of the Dead" and "The Honeymooners" coming out in the next few months. Leguizamo's currently in production on the sequel to "Ice Age."

Heather Burns recently reprised her role as a beauty queen in "Miss Congeniality 2" and wrapped production on "Bewitched" with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.
