Guide Review - "Bubba Ho-Tep" DVD Review
Bubba Ho-Tep asks you to believe Elvis lives, John F. Kennedy is alive but hes been dyed black and his head is full of sand, and theres a soul-sucking mummy creeping around the rest home where both famous figures reside. You know, just by reading that premise, youre in for something interesting when you sit down in front of Bubba Ho-Tep.
Bruce Campbell is The King and the legendary actor/director Ossie Davis is JFK. Both actors are incredible, the script is first-rate, and Don Coscarelli's direction creates an atmosphere of suspended belief enabling audiences to get into the spirit.
Is this a horror movie? A comedy? A touching drama? Put a check mark in front of 'All of the Above.' This is one of the funniest movies in years, it's intelligent, and it's a great - as Bruce Campbell puts it - ode to old people.
