Quantum of Solace is the first Bond movie with a theme song performed by two artists - Alicia Keys and Jack White.
The 22nd Bond movie is the first movie to be a direct sequel in the Bond franchise. The action in Quantum of Solace picks up one hour after the end of Casino Royale. Commenting on the decision to make Quantum of Solace a sequel, Daniel Craig said, "We felt we needed to tie up the loose ends from Casino Royale and make sure people realize we are back making Bond movies. For me it's about creating something that is going to stand alone but if you put the two films together, you're going to have an incredible experience because you will see one continuous story."
Quantum of Solace filmed in more overseas locations than any other Bond movie. Locations included Pinewood Studios, Panama City and Colon in Panama, the Atacama Desert in Chile, Sienna, Carrara, Lake Garda and Fonteblanda in Italy, Bregenz in Austria, and San Felipe, Mexico. And in an interesting bit of trivia, License to Kill and Goldeneye are the only Bond movies not to be filmed at Pinewood Studios.
Dame Judi Dench has now played M in six Bond movies: Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace.
Daniel Craig never utters the line, "Bond, James Bond," in Quantum of Solace.
Bond's car of choice in Quantum of Solace is the Aston Martin DBS.
A wind tunnel facility called 'Bodyflight' was used to film the scene in which Bond and Camille freefall out of a DC3 aircraft. 'Bodyflight' is, according to the film's production notes, the closest you can get to freefalling 10,000 feet without having to jump out of a plane.
200,000 rounds of blank ammunition were purchased for testing, training and filming.
The film takes its title from a short story by Ian Fleming, however the plot does not follow the source material. And speaking of Fleming, the author would be 100 years old as of Quantum of Solace's release.
Quantum of Solace is the shortest Bond film put out by Eon Productions and it follows the longest film of the series.
