Wes Bentley broke onto the scene playing Chris Cooper's troubled son in Sam Mendes' 1999 critically acclaimed drama, "American Beauty." Since then, other than his starring turn opposite Heath Ledger and Kate Hudson in the 2002 flop, "Four Feathers," Bentley's pretty much been absent from the big screen. Signing on to "Ghost Rider" certainly can't hurt his career at this point.
Bentley will play the main villain, Blackheart, with Cage starring as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. The story follows Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt rider who sells his soul to Mephistopheles in order to save his dying father. Years later, Mephistopheles offers to free Johnny's soul if he agrees to become the Ghost Rider, an agent of vengeance. Mephistopheles also demands Johnny kill Blackheart, Mephistophele's son who wants to create an even more hellish hell.
Mark Steven Johnson ("Daredevil") is directing and Shane Salerno wrote the script. Filming is expected to begin in February 2005 in Australia. The budget is estimated to be $51 million.
