Guide Review - 'Bee Movie' - A Very Jerry 2-Disc DVD Edition Review
Barry B Benson is all grown up and instead of tackling a normal bee job, he's ready to venture outside the hive and see the world. But when he does, he quickly learns most humans don't have patience for bees. All they want to do is steal their honey and sell it in stores! However, there is one special lady, a florist named Vanessa (Renee Zellweger), who not only listens to Barry but helps him take a stand for bee rights worldwide.
The Bonus Features
You need a good three or four hours to make it through everything packed onto the 'Bee Movie - A Very Jerry 2-Disc Edition' DVD. Start off with the commentary track which, if you have the patience to make it past the first 15 minutes, actually winds up being pretty entertaining. Seinfeld and a huge batch of behind-the-scenes people got together to do the commentary, and for the first bit all they do is talk over each other. But eventually they settle down and the lively commentary becomes fun to listen to.
In addition to the feature film and commentary track, Disc 1 has 3 lost scenes (that aren't finished), and six - yes, six - alternate endings including one that's Seinfeld's personal favorite. Miss the Bee Movie TV spots? All 16 'juniors' are gathered up for the DVD. There's also footage of Seinfeld's flight over Cannes and interviews with the voice cast.
Disc 2 features all the technical aspects of bringing the world of bees and honey to life on the screen. It also offers a special Q&A featurette with Barry B Benson answering questions about himself. There's also a fun 'We Got the Bee' music video set to the tune of 'We Got the Beat'. Cute. And kids should get a kick out of the special material just for them which is all about bees and their importance in society.
