Guide Review - "Beauty Shop" DVD Review
Gina's tired of working for a man who takes all the credit and strikes out on her own. Opening her own place, Gina soon finds herself surrounded by a wild bunch of hair stylists, new customers, and a neighbor who plays the piano beautifully and is extremely easy on the eyes (Hounsou). As the women swap gossip and have a good time, Gina's old boss decides there's no way he's going to let his ex-employee show him up.
DVD BONUS FEATURES
I'm always a fan of actor commentary tracks and with such a huge, talented ensemble cast, "Beauty Shop" really deserved at least one track - if not two or three. The selected scene commentary by the director is okay, but Woodruff comes off as sounding uncomfortable describing the scenes and talking about his cast.
The short featurette on the making of "Beauty Shop" is decent, if not a little generic. By far the best bonus feature is the five minute gag reel. Check it out even if you usually skip all the extra DVD bells and whistles.
