Apr 18, 2007 - New Line Cinema's film adaptation of the Audrey Niffenegger novel The Time Traveler's Wife is gearing up. Eric Bana has committed to starring in the movie while Rachel McAdams is in final negotiations to take on a lead role in the romantic fantasy.

Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) will direct the film from a script by Jeremy Leven and Bruce Joel Rubin. Filming is expected to begin in September.

The story follows a handsome librarian (Bana) who is unavoidably and unexpectedly whisked through time due to a genetic disorder, always arriving in the new time period naked and without any possessions. During one of his time travels he sees and falls madly in love with a young woman, Clare Abshire (McAdams).

McAdams' next project is the Neil Burger movie The Return. Bana will next be seen opposite Drew Barrymore in Lucky You, directed by Curtis Hanson and set in the world of poker. Bana also recently wrapped work on The Other Boleyn Girl in which he plays King Henry VIII.
