The Bottom Line

Christopher Walken camps it up while Dan Fogler proves he's perfectly capable of handling a starring role with the comedy movie, Balls of Fury. The guys behind Reno 911! take on the world of competitive ping pong in this goofy sports spoof.

Guide Review - Balls of Fury DVD Review

The Story

Randy Daytona's got the ping pong world by the balls until disaster strikes at the Olympics. Daytona (Fogler) chokes, and that pretty much spells the end of his ping pong career.

But the world of table tennis hasn't seen the last of Daytona. Years after the Olympics debacle, FBI Agent Rodriguez calls upon Daytona to embark on a secret mission. Rodriguez needs someone with Daytona's background and skills to infiltrate the cut-throat world of competitive ping pong, and Daytona - reluctantly - accepts the challenge.

The Bonus Features

There had to have been some fairly funny outtakes but we'll never know because the DVD doesn't include a gag reel. What is included on the Balls of Fury disc is a batch of deleted scenes (none would have added anything to the final film) and an alternate ending that deserves to have been just the alternate.

Men may get a kick out of watching the 'Under the Balls: The Life of a Ball Wrangler' mockumentary, but it's definitely not for everyone. The one real must-see bonus item is the 'Balls Out: The Making of Balls of Fury' featurette. It's not only funny but also provides a decent insight into what went into making the feature film.
