Dec 2, 2007 - In what could be the most interesting bit of casting news of 2007, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting a deal is close to being signed for Christian Bale to take on the lead role in the fourth Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. McG has already been confirmed as the director with Warner Bros Pictures aiming for a summer 2009 release.
Bale's coming off a hot year having starred in Werner Herzog's Rescue Dawn as well as the critically acclaimed Western 3:10 to Yuma. Bale also had a supporting role as one of many actors playing Bob Dylan in Todd Haynes' twisted take on Dylan's life - I'm Not There. The super busy actor just finished work on the second Batman film helmed by Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight.
If the deal for Terminator #4 goes through, Bale would take on the role of John Connor (played by Edward Furlong in the second Terminator movie and Nick Stahl in T3). Connor's mission in the fourth film is to lead everyone in a battle against the machines. Terminator Salvation is expected to be the first in a series of three new adventures set in the future.
