Christian Bale May Join 'Public Enemies'

Jan 14, 2008 - Christian Bale apparently doesn't want to take any time off between movies this year. Bale's got a starring role in the next Terminator movie - Terminator Salvation - lined up and now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting Bale is close to saying yes to joining the cast of Public Enemies for director Michael Mann.

Johnny Depp is confirmed to play John Dillinger in the film which is based on Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-43 by Brian Burrough. The Hollywood Reporter says Bale is in talks to play FBI Agent Melvin Purvis.

Michael Mann adapted the screenplay and will direct and produce Public Enemies. Filming is expected to begin later this year.
