Spike TV's SCREAM 2009 Awards, an annual event honoring the best in the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic genres, showered a lot of love on vampires as well as the reboot of the Star Trek franchise. HBO's sexy vampire series True Blood earned awards for Best Villain (Alexander Skarsgard), acting honors for Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, and best series. Twilight also nabbed four awards including acting honors for Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner.

Among those presenting awards at this year's event were Kate Bosworth, Tobey Maguire, Elijah Wood, and Jessica Alba. And Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance to help honor Keith Richards, winner of the evening's Rock Immortal trophy.

The presentation of the Ultimate Scream award provided one of the funniest moments of the event. Morgan Freeman announced Star Trek as the winner, and William Shatner (yes, William Shatner) took to the stage to accept the award. Joking with director JJ Abrams, Shatner said, "This movie was big," said Shatner. "Imagine how big it could have been with me in it? I'll be waiting for your call."
