Last year's Golden Globes award ceremony was canceled due to the writers' strike and for a while it looked as though the January 11, 2009 ceremony was in jeopardy. But the Screen Actors Guild put the minds of members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to ease by announcing they won't go out on strike (if that winds up being their decision) until after the Golden Globes. That's good news for not only the HFPA but for films such as Slumdog Millionaire, The Wrestler, and The Reader, winners that are likely to get a box office boost.
