Mel Gibson brought one of James Garners unforgettable television characters to the big screen in 1994, playing the title role in "Maverick," opposite Mr. Garner as Marshal Zane Cooper.
Dame Julie Andrews and James Garner starred together in 1964 in "The Americanization of Emily," which Mr. Garner cites as his favorite film. They re-teamed again in "Victor/Victoria" in 1982 (for which Ms. Andrews received her third Oscar® nomination) and in 1999 in the CBS telefilm "One Special Night," which set a 1999 ratings record.
Last year, Mr. Gibson produced, co-wrote and directed the "The Passion of The Christ," which is currently honored with three Oscar® nominations and has surpassed the $300 million mark, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film in film history.
In the past year, Julie Andrews hosted the PBS six-part series "Broadway: The American Musical," starred in Disneys blockbuster, "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" as well as DreamWorks box office smash, "Shrek 2." She also starred in two of ABCs top-rated movies, "Eloise at the Plaza" and "Eloise of Christmastime."
