Academy Award-Winner Adrien Brody Will Announce the 2005 Oscar Nominees

Beverly Hills, CA, January 18, 2005 — Nominations for the 77th Academy Awards® will be announced Tuesday, January 25, 2005 by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Frank Pierson and Oscar-winning actor and Academy member Adrien Brody.

Pierson and Brody will unveil the nominations in 10 of the 24 categories at a 5:30 a.m. news conference, which will be attended by media outlets from around the world.

Two years ago, for the 75th Academy Awards, Brody received his first Oscar nomination for his leading role in "The Pianist." His subsequent win made him the youngest male performer to win a leading actor Oscar. Brody recently starred in "The Village" and will next be seen starring in "The Jacket" and "King Kong."

Official screenings for Academy members of all pictures with a nomination are scheduled to begin January 29th at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills and the Linwood Dunn Theater located at the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study in Hollywood. Screenings in certain categories also will be held in London, New York and San Francisco.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland®. The Oscars will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. EST, beginning with a half hour arrivals segment.
