The dramatic retelling of 16th US President Abraham Lincoln's battle to free the slaves earned 10 2013 British Academy Film Awards nominations, however Lincoln's director Steven Spielberg was nowhere to be seen on the list of nominees. The British equivalent of America's Oscars chose not to nominate Spielberg in the Best Director category, but his film did earn nominations in the Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories.
Just a step behind Lincoln, Ang Lee's Life of Pi and Tom Hooper's Les Miserables each picked up nine nominations. Lee did earn a Best Director nomination, however Hooper did not.
