Lester decides to make a few changes in his life. The freer he gets, the more maddening it becomes to his wife, Carolyn, and daughter Jane-especially when he turns his gaze toward Jane's friend, Angela. Carolyn responds by sleeping with her co-worker, Buddy. More complications arise with the arrival of Marine Col Fitts, his wife, Barbara, and his distant son, Ricky, who develops a crush on Jane.
