Guide Review - "A Lot Like Love" DVD Review
Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet play a couple of strangers who meet on a plane and who, for some weird reason, form an immediate bond.Oliver (Kutcher) and Emily (Peet) are both at a point in their lives where they need to make a change when they first run into each other. After a little sexual encounter while aboard a cross-country plane ride from LA to NYC, the two begin a friendship that will span seven years.
Throughout the seven year period, they occasionally get together to catch up on each other's lives. Though they're attracted to one another, the timing's never quite right. But as the years go by, Oliver and Emily start to believe they could possibly be in something 'a lot like love.'
While "A Lot Like Love" doesn't exactly break new ground as a romantic comedy, but it is one of the better movies of its genre.
"A Lot Like Love" DVD Bonus Features:
The commentary track by director Nigel Cole and the producers is a bit dry and having either Ashton Kutcher or Amanda Peet sit in on the session would have greatly enhanced the experience. As it is, I'd say skip the optional commentary track unless you're addicted to watching them no matter what.
The five deleted scenes are cute, but wouldn't have added anything to the finished film.
The one feature you should not miss is the blooper reel. Only four minutes long, the reel is genuinely fun to watch and shows Kutcher and Peet having a good time on the set.
