Its like a nice blue, but the green is like a hideous green that would send you sick if you spent three months looking at that and theyre used for different purposes. Look, I dont mind it. In this situation it was great because all I had to do was work with people who were really there - work with Gerry, work with all the other guys and fight together. We didnt have to imagine anything else. What we had to imagine was the geography of the place and thats what the blue screen was used for, to drop the whole background in afterwards. So from an acting point of view, I didnt mind it at all. Working with "300" Writer/Director Zack Snyder: I loved working with Zack. Obviously hes extremely creative; he knew exactly what he was doing. Technically a bit of a wiz. The fight sequences Id go as far as to say theyd probably be the coolest fight sequences Ive ever seen on screen. And its totally due to two different things: the choreography by these masters Damon [Caro] and Chad [Stahelski] who choreographed the whole thing. Its like the coolest fight sequences you can see. But also the way that Zack filmed it. Some of the technology that he used to capture those moments have made the sequences like theyll be talked about for a long time. I think theyll be quite ground-breaking. The technology used in creating 300s visual style never overshadows the characters, according to Wenham. Its only a way of capturing what youre seeing and making it look really, really cool. The Fight Scenes of 300: In the film there are fight sequences that basically [are] all captured in one take. Some of them theres no cutting in between. You just wont believe that a) those fight sequences are actually occurring like that, and the fact that theyre real with us guys doing it. Its us guys doing it with obviously stunt guys who are dying all the time. Its cool and as I say, the way that Zacks shot it and some of the innovative ways that hes come across to do this is, I think, really going to open peoples eyes to the possibility of what you can do with film. Wenhams Take on the Finished Film: For me its extremely exciting. My character narrates the film and thats why Ive been fortunate enough to see the film. I love it. From the very first time I saw it, I think, its unique, its different, its exciting. Its so different to any other film version of a story thats of an historical basis. You know, you dont have to be You can be anybody to appreciate this film, I suppose. Its not a niche market. Its extremely accessible. * * * * * David Wenham on the Costumes and Blue Screen Work - Play the Video David Wenham on the Fight Scenes and Director Zack Snyder - Play the Video David Wenham on the Story of "300" - Play the Video More Links |
