March 30, 2010 - MTV's changing things up this year. They've decided to give their viewers the power to decide which films, performances, kisses, fight scenes, etc will be nominated for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. And, MTV's added a few new categories for fans to fight over. Categories making their debut on 2010 awards show are: Best Scared-As-S--t Performance, Best A--Kicking Star, and Global Superstar. Which basically means we'll see New Moon and its actors nominated in even more categories than Twilight was in 2009.

Voting's open now through Friday, April 9th at 6pm EST. Log onto MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote. The nominees will be revealed in early May, with the final round of voting taking place May 11 - June 5. Winners will be announced, and golden buckets of popcorn will be handed out, on June 6th.

In a statement announcing the changes, MTV General Manager Stephen Friedman said, "Handing over the voting to our devoted movie fans is sure to generate a passionate debate over this year's epic films. And this year, fans worldwide will get to participate in the process. After driving major ticket sales, our audience will now drive voting for their favorite movies."
