Johnathon Schaech Interview
Johnathon Schaech ('George Fletcher') in Quarantine
Johnathon Schaech: "Adult... Did you see my porn 'stache in the movie? Adult.com? What does that mean?"
About.com.
Johnathon Schaech: "Oh, see where my mind is? No, I was teasing because I have a porn 'stache in the movie."
Well, that makes since because you're a firefighter and they all have them, right?
Johnathon Schaech: "Yeah, yeah. Not all of them - 50%. I think the guys above 35 have them and the guys that don't haven't mastered the 'stache yet so they don't go there."
How long did it take you to grow yours?
Johnathon Schaech: "It felt like it took three months or something, but it probably took me six weeks. And we had to do reshoots so it actually took me seven weeks to grow the 'stache, and it's a thick 'stache."
It's impressive.
Johnathon Schaech: "I think it's an impressive 'stache. I think, yes. I'm going to say that. It's an impressive 'stache."
And you also studied with firefighters, right?
Johnathon Schaech: "Yeah, I got to study with those guys, hung out with them. I basically hung out with them. I went on a couple of calls with them, had gear on. They taught me everything historical about it. Went through the museum with a couple of the guys. They're just a great group of human beings."
Did they let you squirt anything?
Johnathon Schaech: "No squirting. I didn't get to squirt. No, those hoses are dangerous, man. You've got to know what you're doing with your hose. We're right back to Adult.com."
Now, they shot it in order. What was that like as an actor to shoot in order because that doesn't usually happen?
Johnathon Schaech: "It's true. You're always going back and forth and you have to keep your continuity going. But we shot this through. It kept the intensity, staking the intensity for the actors. Absolutely."
How did you keep that level of intensity up?
Johnathon Schaech: "Well, you know, when you get a bunch of actors together and you put them in the same room and their imaginations are all flowing, it gets pretty intense."
How's your production company doing?
Johnathon Schaech: "We're doing great. Right now we just finished another adaptation. It seems like we have a go with Tobe Hooper directing a script that we wrote for Stephen King from a novel called From a Buick 8."
So that's a go?
Johnathon Schaech: "It looks like a go now."
Are you going to act in it?
Johnathon Schaech: "Tell Tobe Hooper to hire me."
I think you've probably got some pull with him.
Johnathon Schaech: "What is that thing behind us?"
It's a zombie. It just keeps running back and forth. Are you scared of zombies?
Johnathon Schaech: "No. There's a maze here that supposedly it's named Quarantine after our film and I can imagine that's going to be quite scary, going around the corners with a bunch of zombies."
Do you have a masculine scream or do you scream like a girl?
Johnathon Schaech: "I've been caught screaming like a girl."
And you admit to that?
Johnathon Schaech: "Yeah. I don't my 'stache on. When I have my porn 'stache it's like, 'No, I would never. No way.'"
