Guide Picks - Top Romantic Movies Starring Meg Ryan
Who could ever forget Meg Ryan's famous “orgasm” scene in "When Harry Met Sally?" Her halo may have slipped a bit, but she's still a shining star to romantic movie fans. Whether she's teaming up with Tom Hanks or falling in love with an angel, Meg's roles in romance films have made her a fan favorite.
1) "Sleepless in Seattle" (Special Edition)
Meg stars with Tom Hanks in this wonderful tale of love lost and love found. The DVD is loaded with extras including a "Love in the Movies" featurette, "When I Fall In Love" music video, and commentary from the film's director, Nora Ephron.
2) "Prelude to a Kiss"
Meg Ryan kisses a strange, elderly man who shows up uninvited at her wedding. New husband Alec Baldwin shoos the man away, but not before Meg and the stranger swap bodies. It sounds strange, but it's really a moving tale of love and longing.
3) "City of Angels"
The "Special Edition" DVD is packed with added features including commentary by members of the crew, deleted scenes, two special "Making Of" featurettes, interviews with Alanis Morissette and Peter Gabriel, and music videos from U2 and the Goo Goo Dolls.
4) "When Harry Met Sally"
Meg Ryan's restaurant scene is one of the most recognizable scenes in movie history. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are wonderful in this romantic comedy about the trials and tribulations of friendships between men and women. The DVD includes a "Making Of" documentary, a Harry Connick Jr. music video, deleted scenes, and interviews with the stars of the film.
5) "I.Q."
Tim Robbins is Ed, an auto mechanic who falls for Albert Einstein's niece, Catherine (Meg Ryan). Despite the fact that Catherine is engaged, Einstein likes Ed and, with the help of his cronies, helps him capture Catherine's heart.
6) "The Doors"
Technically not a romance movie, it still deserves a spot on this list due to Meg Ryan and Val Kilmer's dead-on portrayal of The Doors frontman, Jim Morrison, and his girlfriend Pamela. Meg and Val are incredible as they bring to life the poet/singer who may, or may not, have died in a bathtub in Paris.
7) "You've Got Mail"
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan reunited for this romantic tale of total opposites who wage war with each other in person, as over the Internet they fall in love. Their online relationship heats up while offline, they come to near blows with Meg's little bookstore fighting off the big, bad bookstore conglomerate owned by Tom's family.
