Paramount Pictures has rescheduled the release of the sci-fi action-thriller "The Core" for the first quarter of 2003, it was announced today by Rob Friedman, chief operating officer of Paramount Pictures and vice-chairman of the Motion Picture Group.
"'The Core' is a huge film with exciting innovative effects and we always knew we were on a tight post production schedule," said Mr. Friedman. "In order not to compromise the quality of the effects, we have decided to give the filmmakers more time to perfect them."
Mr. Friedman added, "It's important to us to make the best film possible, not a release date."
Directed by Jon Amiel, "The Core" stars Aaron Eckhart as Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes, who discovers that an unknown force has caused the earth's inner core to stop rotating. With the planet's magnetic field rapidly deteriorating, our atmosphere literally starts to come apart at the seams with catastrophic consequences. To resolve the crisis, Keyes, along with a team of the world's most gifted scientists, travel into the earth's core in a subterranean craft piloted by "terranauts," Major Rebecca "Beck" Childs, played by Hilary Swank, Commander Robert Iverson played by Bruce Greenwood, Dr. Edward Brazzleton played by Delroy Lindo, Dr. Conrad Zimsky played by Stanley Tucci and Dr. Serge Leveque played by Tcheky Karyo. Their mission: detonate a device that will reactivate the core. The film also stars D.J. Qualls, Richard Jenkins and Alfre Woodard. Previous Articles |
