Following the buzz of his highly anticipated lead role in "Agent Cody Banks," Frankie Muniz ("Malcolm In The Middle," "Big Fat Liar," "My Dog Skip") will voice the lead character in Alcon Entertainment's live-action/CG animated family film, "Racing Stripes," it was announced today by co-presidents Andrew A. Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Frederik Du Chau ("Quest for Camelot") will direct the screenplay, which was written by first time writer David Schmidt along with Kirk DeMicco and Mike Samonek. Producers are Kosove and Johnson. Steven Wegner will serve as executive producer.
"Racing Stripes" tells the heartwarming tale of an abandoned baby zebra that grows up on a modest Kentucky farm. Believing himself to be a racehorse, "Stripes" (Muniz) uses the help of his barnyard friends to overcome prejudice and self-doubt to pursue his dream of running with the thoroughbreds in "The Big Race." The project will be distributed via Alcon's five-year, ten-picture distribution agreement with Warner Bros. Summit Entertainment will handle foreign sales.
"We are delighted to be back in business with Frankie on this new project," stated Andrew Kosove. "It has been amazing to watch Frankie's growth since working with him on 'My Dog Skip' and we are looking forward to his being a part of another Alcon Entertainment project," stated Broderick Johnson.
Muniz is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment, United Talent Agency and attorney Geoff Oblath. Scott Edel of Kleinberg, Lopez, Lange, Brisbin & Cuddy negotiated the deal for Alcon.
