"America's Sweethearts" DVD Review/Recommendation
John Cusack and Catherine Zeta-Jones star as a Hollywood couple who break up prior to the release of their final joint film project. It's up to Billy Crystal as a veteran press agent to manipulate the media and keep them away from discovering the couple's break-up. Julia Roberts co-stars as Catherine Zeta-Jones' sister, and personal assistant, who falls for her sister's soon-to-be ex.
I loved "America's Sweethearts" when I saw it in the theatre, but have to admit I'm disappointed in the DVD. We've come to expect more DVD bonus features (maybe we're just spoiled) and "America's Sweethearts" doesn't offer much other than the film itself, and a few deleted scenes. With such a talented ensemble cast, including comedian Billy Crystal, the outtakes must have been hysterical, but they're not included on the DVD. That said, I'd still recommend the film - on its own merit - to anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy.
