Guide Review
"Moulin Rouge" Special Edition DVD Review/Recommendation
Director Baz Luhrmann's vibrant, bold, amazing, musical love story advances beyond its theatrical impact with a DVD that raises the bar on what DVDs should strive for in the future. Luhrmann created, directed and produced the film's DVD and his nurturing touch emanates throughout.

The "Moulin Rouge" Special Edition two-disc set includes more than six hours of extra material. Among the DVD's gems are interviews with the cast and crew, with some of the most enlightening director commentary to have accompanied a DVD, to date. Rather than simply include the standard interviews with the film's stars and director, "Moulin Rouge" showcases segments with the costume designer, the artists behind the soundtrack, and the film's editor. Movie musical fans will enjoy the extended Can Can, Coup D'Etat, Tango, and Hindi dance scenes as well as the behind-the-scenes look at the process of creating - and matching - the music with the film.
