Callum Blue ("Dead Like Me") and Chris Pine are Disney's newest movie hunks as they join the cast of the 2004 sequel to "Princess Diaries," "Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement." Blue and Pine play two princes who battle for the hand of Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway).

CALLUM BLUE ('Andrew') AND CHRIS PINE ('Nicholas') INTERVIEW:

What was it like joining a cast that had already worked together?
CHRIS PINE: Without incident. I mean it was, from the screen test day, it was super easy. I went in and I was going to shake Garry [Marshall's] hand, but he came over and gave me a big, warm hug. Anne [Hathaway] came over and we talked for 10 minutes. She asked me about who I was and what I was about. And from then on, you kind of get the sense that it was a family that was ready to go. They were very inclusive.

CALLUM BLUE: When he says family, he means like 15 years of knowing each other. Because you worked with the same people all the time. It was, in all honestly, scary for me because I don't do well with big groups or families. So I came in and I was scared. But they made me feel so comfortable and so at ease, and that really reflects in your acting when you feel like that because there's no nervousness. You're free to kind of play the character then. I think [Garry Marshall] does it on purpose for the performances.

CHRIS PINE: I think that Garry chooses people that he wants to spend three months with. I think that's at the fore. Talent and all that aside, he picks people who can work together and create a good atmosphere.

What do you have in common with your character, if you have something in common?
CALLUM BLUE: (Laughing) You don't think I do, do you? I have absolutely nothing in common. I'm from a very dodgy part of London and I used to look at those aristocratic people and think, "You snobby, snobby bastards…" But playing this has really allowed me to see it from the other side. I think that being part of privilege and never having to work a day in your life is so boring. I'm so glad of what I've achieved. I'm so glad I've achieved it as well. I work hard to do it and that makes me very proud. So it's nothing like my character at all. But that's why I'm an actor, because I get to see other sides of life and I get to be other people and it excites me so much.

CHRIS PINE: I guess…

CALLUM BLUE: You are like your character.

CHRIS PINE: I am like my character in that, I guess, I like to push buttons a little bit sometimes and maybe I go too far. My sister would certainly say that. But, yeah, I guess there's a certain… I try to be suave. It doesn't always work out (laughing). Hopefully, I'm not as…

CALLUM BLUE: Arrogant.

CHRIS PINE: Arrogant.

CALLUM BLUE: No, this guy's such a lovely guy and I think he played his part so well, because he's not arrogant at all. He's very modest.

What do you think about being the 'hunks' in a Disney movie?
CHRIS PINE: Totally excited.

CALLUM PINE: I don't think Andrew is the hunk, I think he's kind of the…

CHRIS PINE: Well, you heard yesterday…some lady was like she didn't know who she would have chosen. That's good, man.

CALLUM BLUE: It's that kind of choice of a woman - to go with the nice guy or the nasty guy. Not that he's really nasty. She's attracted to him because he's kind of the rebel, the suave kind. And Andrew's kind of the wet fish. And I think that all women get to make that choice and they always go for the suave, nasty guy. It's a fact of life. So I don't know if [Andrew's] going to be the hunk, I think [Chris' character] is going to be the hunk.

Did you fashion your portrayal after a real prince?
CHRIS PINE: I know Callum did. He got some tape, but I just watched a lot of movies. I saw my character as just an extension or one in a long line of Cary Grant, Errol Flynn - George Clooney even. Just that kind of swashbuckling, that kind of guy.

CALLUM BLUE: I watched Prince William for ideas because I think he's the most charming out of the lot of them. I think he's the most likable, as well. Again, I think it's so easy to play these characters without redeeming qualities. They've had everything their whole lives. And I really wanted him to be a likable character so I practiced the wave and the walk and I tried to get a bit of that in him. So yeah, I watched this video called "How to be a Prince." I have no idea how I found it.

Chris, how good are you at doing an English accent? Is it easy?
CHRIS PINE: Ever since I saw "Sexy Beast" I've been trying to get the cockney thing down. Julie [Andrew's] make-up person is from the East End also, isn't he?

CALLUM BLUE: Is he really? I didn't know that.

CHRIS PINE: He taught me all the [cockney slang]. It's really hard, though. I have a pretty good ear but to go in and out is kind of difficult. I had this dialect coach working with me all the time. I had to go hard on the 'g's and it was killing me. I had to do these vocal warm-up things.

Are you good at horseback riding?
CHRIS PINE: (Laughing) Not in the least. They had me on the horse for like a week for two hours a day. I probably did it over the course of like three weeks, probably. But it looks so easy and you get off the horse and you have these big cherries on your thighs and your calves? It hurts. It's really an art I'm not too good at.
