Paramount Pictures and Lions Gate Films, the motion picture arm of Lions Gate Entertainment, will partner on the domestic distribution of the critically-acclaimed "Narc," a favorite at the recent Sundance Film Festival, the two companies have announced.

Starring Jason Patric and Ray Liotta, the taut police thriller is written and directed by cutting edge filmmaker Joe Carnahan. Diane Nabatoff, Ray Liotta and Michelle Grace's Tiara Blu Films and Jules Nasso produced the film. David Glasser and Andrea Klein's Splendid Pictures financed and executive produced the film with Adam Stone. Cruise/Wagner Productions' Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner will also become executive producers.

"We have been excited about 'Narc' since we first saw the script and Joe Carnahan's work almost a year and a half ago," said Lions Gate Entertainment Vice Chairman Michael Burns. "We're delighted to expand our relationship with Paramount Pictures as they, along with Cruise/Wagner, will help fulfill the film's potential. We are very enthused about 'Narc's' provocative material, cutting edge creative talent, A-list production team and outstanding critical and commercial potential."

"Narc" tells the dark story of suspended undercover narcotics officer Nick Tellis (Jason Patric), who is reluctantly drawn back onto the force to find the truth behind the murder of a young police officer killed in the line of duty. He is teamed with Henry Oak, the slain officer's partner (Ray Liotta), a rogue cop who will stop at nothing to avenge his friend's death. As Tellis and Oak unravel the case, the dark underbelly of the narcotics world reveals itself in ways more twisted than either officer has seen before… and it threatens to destroy them both.
