"Joe Somebody" stars Tim Allen as a guy who gets kicked around one time too many and decides to finally make a stand and fight back. As a mild-mannered producer of videos for a huge pharmaceutical conglomerate, Joe Scheffer (Allen) gets beat up by a co-worker (Patrick Warburton) in front of his young daughter on the company's Take Your Daughter to Work day. Devastated and unable to drag himself back into work, Scheffer is visited at home by his company's 'Wellness Coordinator,' Meg Harper (Julie Bowen) who convinces him that he needs to pull himself together and asks him what it is that he needs, which is ultimately the question that leads to Scheffer's re-emergence as a man to be reckoned with. With the assistance of a former action movie star, Chuck Scarett (Jim Belushi), Joe turns himself from a nobody into "Joe Somebody."
If you're looking for a fun family film with a positive message, "Joe Somebody" is a great find. The film features Tim Allen in the type of performance he does so well. The 'every man' role fits Allen perfectly, allowing him to showcase his comedic skills mixed with a good helping of drama. The interaction between Allen and Jim Belushi is hilarious, and the fight scene featurette plays heavily on the chemistry of the two actors.
