Seven films won two awards each at the Orange British Academy Film Awards held February 23, 2003 in Leicester Square. "The Pianist" took home what could be thought of as the evening's big awards, emerging triumphant in the Best Film and the David Lean Award for Achievement in Direction categories.

Nicole Kidman's work as Virginia Woolf in "The Hours" earned her the award for Actress in a Leading Role. "The Hours" also captured the Anthony Asquith Award for Achievement in Music. The awards for British Film of the Year and Special Achievement by a British Director, Screenwriter or Producer in Their First Feature Film went to "The Warrior."

Catherine Zeta Jones' role in the high-stepping murder musical "Chicago" won her the Actress in a Supporting Role honor. "Chicago" also won the award for Sound. While no acting honors were bestowed upon the cast of "Road to Perdition," the production team scored with awards for Production Design and Cinematography. Pedro Almodóvar's "Talk To Her" won for Original Screenplay and in the category of Film Not in the English Language. Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" earned the Costume Design and Achievement in Special Visual Effects awards. "The Two Towers" was also selected by the public as the Orange Film of the Year. The Orange Film of the Year honor is the only award voted for by the general public.
