Following its July 26, 2002 opening weekend of over $73 million, New Line Cinema's record-breaking "Austin Powers in Goldmember" has surpassed the $206 million domestic gross of its predecessor, "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," becoming the most successful of the installments to date. The biggest comedy of the year and highest grossing film of the summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), "Austin Powers in Goldmember" is also the second biggest 3rd installment of all time (behind "Return of the Jedi"). This is the first time a third comedy installment has beaten both its predecessors.

Other milestones include:
-"Austin Powers in Goldmember" had the biggest opening weekend of all time for a comedy and is the fastest comedy to gross its first $100 million at the box office.

-"Austin Powers in Goldmember's" debut was 33% higher than the nearly $55 million opening of its predecessor "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." By the end of its second day, "Goldmember" had topped the $53.8 million that the original made in its entire run.

-The film is one of the top 50 movies of all time, surpassing previous comedy blockbusters including "Men in Black II," "What Women Want," "Grease," "Liar Liar," "Pretty Woman," "Tootsie" and "There's Something About Mary."

-Mike Myers is the only comedian to have three movies gross over $200 million and the only actor to have three $200 million films in a row.
