Warner Bros closed a deal with Intermedia, Internationalmedia's American subsidiary, to become the domestic distributor of "Alexander." Production is anticipated to start in June 2003.
Colin Farrell will star in the role of the charismatic conqueror Alexander The Great with Oscar winner Oliver Stone directing. Stone has been exploring the Alexander theme and background material over a longer period of time and spent the last year exclusively on scouting and rewriting the script.
The top-class combination Stone/Farrell and the convincing script of the historic "Alexander" project surely helped the film to start well before its Universal/DreamWorks rival project, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
DiCaprio will reteam with "Gangs of New York's" director Martin Scorsese on "Aviator" in May 2003, produced by Internationalmedia's subsidiary IEG.
"We are thrilled to extend our existing 'Terminator 3' cooperation with Warner Bros. to 'Alexander.' Warner Bros. affords the highest credibility for 'Alexander'", says Moritz Bormann, chairman of IM AG and worldwide CEO of the Group.
