"Kate and Leopold" is director James Mangold's fourth feature, continuing his exploration of new genres with his first venture into romantic comedies.
Mangold's critically acclaimed first film, "Heavy," was a nearly wordless feature, written under the guidance of Milos Forman. Mangold followed up with 1997's "Cop Land," starring a stellar cast that included Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, Sylvester Stallone, and Harvey Keitel. His third feature, "Girl, Interrupted," drew critical and popular acclaim, and won Angelina Jolie the 1999 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
