It's hard to believe Walt Disney Pictures' "Beauty and the Beast" is about to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. It is - and Disney is planning on celebrating the special event with a digitally remastered release of the award-winning animated classic. On January 1, 2002, "Beauty and the Beast" will make its debut in select IMAX and Giant-Screen theaters around the world. Audiences will have the opportunity to see one of the film as they've never seen it before.

Disney animators have added an all new, never-before-seen musical sequence by Academy Award-winning songwriters Howard Ashman and Alan Menken entitled "Human Again." According to Walt Disney Pictures, this new sequence will feature Belle, the Beast, and an ensemble of "enchanted objects" dreaming of what they'll do when they regain their human forms. The sequence was storyboarded back in 1991 but never animated - until now.

This large-format release of "Beauty and the Beast" is not just a blow-up of the 35mm print. This release is a newly created print, painstakingly made frame by frame from the film's original digital files. Additional animation, effects, and background details have been added to give the film a richer look. The result is bigger and better version of this landmark animated classic.
