POISON

Does this film reflect anything you've experienced as a band?
Brett: I think this is definitely going to touch on our lives.
Rikki: Absolutely.
Brett:You do?
Rikki: Absolutely.

What's the progression from beginning to end, when you're working in the studio?
Brett: For us going in, we were friends. We all grew up on the East Coast together. And going in for us and making music - the ultimate thing is coming in with songs and ideas, partying a bit, hanging out. Then you go in there and you write great stuff - things that mean something to your soul, something to your heart, something that can be from anger or be from love. Then after you have that you go into the studio and you take it in there, and try to make the best music you can.

When you see the wild stuff in this movie, will you say to each other "We can top that?"
Brett: Definitely.
Rikki: Probably. Maybe this is about the time I should push my book (laughing).

LISA LOEB & DWEEZIL ZAPPA

How much of the sex, drugs and rock and roll atmosphere actual exists?
Lisa: For some people in the 80s it was probably true. For us it's not necessarily true.
Dweezil: No, it's definitely not true. I've never taken any drugs - ever.
Lisa: But it is true for the 80s - alot of rock bands, right?
Dweezil: Yeah, well the problem is people confuse the fact that you have to take drugs to be creative, or have a really good time. And if you really enjoy what you're doing, you don't need the drugs or whatever. If you're really creative, and you have talent, and you make good music - that should be more fun than taking any drug.

Are there any perks of being famous?
Lisa: I don't know - people are nice to me.
Dweezil: Every now and then you get a good table at a restaurant. You might get some sort of advantage at a hotel, they might give you a better room or something like that. But, we don't like to sort of take advantage of things because it's just not right.

DEBBIE/DEBRA GIBSON

Your assistant/publicist is wearing an interesting belt buckle (large buckle with "Debbie" on it). Is there a story behind that?
He's my friend and publicist and I actually got him that belt. I just think it's hysterical that whenever I do interviews this "Debbie/Debra" thing becomes this major issue. So I just figured well, you know what, whatever, Debbie - Debra, I just saw it and thought it was perfectly kitschy and he thought it was a perfectly good idea to wear it tonight just for pure kitsch value.

Were you ever overwhelmed with performing - or did you handle it well?
I handle it well, but, yes, I've had my moments. I've had times when I was so overwhelmed that I've had anxiety attacks and had to retreat. I've had to cancel some things. You know, you're not a superhero - you're a human being and that's why a lot of rock stars turn to drugs. Record companies are coming down so hard on them and basically saying you're not living up to your end of the bargain if you don't work 20 hours a day. And, when you are trying to be creative, be alert, keep your voice intact and all that, a lot of times they don't understand that just because something fits on an itinerary doesn't mean that it's humanly possible to do it and survive it and have something left of your soul at the end of the day. So you have to learn to be able to say no to things, and to learn that you at the end of the day employ your record company, they don't employ you.
