Producer Dan Halsted ("Any Given Sunday," "The Virgin Suicides") is known more for his work with dramatic films than for romantic comedies. His enthusiasm for "Serving Sara" had a lot to do with his desire to become involved in a lighter project.
The film needed a helmer who had a history directing romantic comedies and Halsted found the perfect director in Reginald Hudlin ("House Party," "The Ladies Man" and "Boomerang"). Halsted says, "Reggie Hudlin was clearly the very best choice for our director. He has a great sense for this kind of comedy, and after he did 'Boomerang' with Eddie Murphy, he had a terrific model for the film."
Sharing Halsted's excitement for the film, director Reginald Hudlin loved the "Serving Sara" script from the first moment he read it. Hudlin felt the script was one of the best he'd read in recent years.

How did you become involved in Serving Sara?
Does that happen in Hollywood a lot?
Why are you so attracted to romantic comedies?
What kind of physical training did you put Matthew Perry and Elizabeth Hurley through for their roles?
Was there a lot of improv on the set?
Why did you cast a very British actress in a role that requires her to live on a ranch in Texas?
Any favorite moments from filming?
