Looking refreshed, Kathy Griffin cruised the press line at the Los Angeles Premiere of the Brittany Murphy/Dakota Fanning comedy, "Uptown Girls."
KATHY GRIFFIN
Can you tell me about the TV series you're working on right now?
It's called the "D List," it's based on my life as a D-List celebrity. I play myself, the girl that was on "Suddenly Susan" and has been biting and scratching ever since. The girl who went on "The Mole" and almost got choked to death by Stephen Baldwin. The girl who will do just about anything for a buck. The girl who had plastic surgery and talked about it. And all the people around me who have to put up with my crap. There's my husband character, there's my assistant who treats me like crap character... Basically everybody shits on me in this show.
What do the real people who inspired the characters think of this?
I didn't ask them. I didn't run it by them yet.
Even your husband?
He gives me carte blanche. He's good about that.
And you're also doing stand-up again?
Yes, every Wednesday at the Laugh Factory here in LA on Sunset Blvd. - selling out every week, I might add.
Are you going to take your act on tour?
No, I like staying here. I do road gigs occasionally but I don't want to go out on the road for months at a time.
